Valentine's Card

Valentine's Tag and Envelope

Better late than never I say but, I just now got around to editing some of my work and so I'd like to share them with whom ever might be interested in looking at my humble work.

I created this tag and envelope for my son to give to his sweetheart this past valentine's day. Graphic45 papers were used for most of the design along with some other fun embellishments that I collect.

Doll Couture

Couture Tag 2

I am having such a fun time designing these beautiful girly tags; this particular one was a birthday tag for my beautiful and fashionably dressed daughter-in-law.  The back of it which I am not showing, I created a pocket and inserted a birthday sentiment and a couple of other journaling and photo creations for her to journal special moments of her birthday and, also created an envelope to put it all together.

Creations:  After a bit of practicing my drawing of the body alone (about 20),  it has been a while since I have drawn body shapes.  I then traced the body onto tracing paper, drew the body on french newspaper design paper.  Over the same traced body shape I designed the dress, individually cut each panel onto designer paper.  The tag was made out of mixed media elements, stamps (heartfelt creations, tim holts), molding paste, gesso.  The flowers from Heartfelt creations vintage rose and embellished with several rhinestones.

Again my inspiration came from Julie Nutting's Couture Dolls

Happy Easter

I love spring, the way my garden smells with its new fresh flowers and herbs. The hummingbirds that every year build a nest outside my kitchen window on a ficus tree. It re-emphasizes the fact and promise of new life and hope coming at the end of dark, cold winter.

This little guy (upside down) was born on my backyard last year, as you can see his momma is patiently waiting for him to "get a hang of things" so that may take flight together.

Heaven's Very Special Child

Since I am not cooking much these days a good friend of mine has encouraged me to post my paper art pieces and any thing else I may wish to journal.
I am currently doing some "spring cleaning" and ran into this prayer which was given to me many many years ago when I was in a very sad, seemingly, hopeless time.  This person, a woman/mom, shared with me this prayer, and her own special situation. I then came to find out that her very own "story" was so much more complex than mine was.  Anyway, I have kept this poem/prayer with me for over 30 years and wish to share this with my family and friends, and perhaps it will bring solace to someone out there.

Heaven’s Very Special Child

A meeting was held quite far away from earth.  It’s time again for another birth; said an angel to the Lord.
This special child will need much love.  His progress may be very slow, accomplishments he may not show.  And he’ll require extra care, from the folks he meets down there.
He may not run or laugh or play; in many ways he won’t adapt.  And he’ll be known as “handicapped”.
So let’s be careful where he’s sent.  Where all they want is his life to be content. They will do a special job for you.  They will not realize right away, the leading role they are asked to play.
But with this special child sent from above comes stronger faith and richer love.  And soon they will know the privilege given in caring for their gift from Heaven.  Their precious charge so meek and mild;
“Is heaven’s Very Special Child”

Doll Couture Tag

It's been months since I have posted anything here and since my life style has changed in the last few months, I have been doing very little cooking; therefore I have nothing to share.  However I have been devoting my time to my number one passion which its paper crafting.  I enjoy scrapbooking, greeting card creation and designing formal stationery.

I recently bought a book by Julie Nutting on collage couture and I have been having so much fun creating these fancy couquit tags. Designing these little dolls reminds me of playing with paper dolls as a young girl, my family did not have much money for fancy real dolls for me but I always had paper dolls.  These little dolls have also taken me back to how I developed my passion for beautiful paper creations, shiny pages of magazines and all types of art; I used to be good at drawing and bringing these little dolls to life I am remembering how to draw again.

Here's my first attempt at recreating one of Julie Nutting's cutie dolls:
